Farewell to Barb

It is with fondness and admiration that we bid farewell to Tourism Manager Barb Beverungen as she retires from Carroll County government on July 7th after 20 years of service. Barb is well known and respected as a top-notch tourism professional throughout Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic.

Barb has left a lasting influence on Carroll County - from planning annual tourism advertising campaigns, bus tours and special events to managing the Carroll County Visitor’s Center and helping to promote our Civil War heritage. On behalf of Carroll County government and citizens, we salute Barb for her dedication to Carroll County tourism.

And, we welcome county employee JoAnna Crone who will be serving as the Office of Tourism Interim Manager beginning July 12th. JoAnna can be reached at 410-386-2983 or jcrone@ccg.carr.org for any tourism-related matters.

Carroll Wine Trail Launched

The Maryland Wineries Association (MWA) announces the launch of the Carroll Wine Trail - a partnership between the wineries, MWA, the Carroll County Department of Economic Development and Tourism Office and the Maryland Department of Agriculture.

Within the last year two new wineries opened – Galloping Goose Vineyards (Hampstead) and Serpent Ridge Vineyard (Westminster), joining the established Cygnus Winecellars (Manchester). Other Carroll wineries are under development making this the perfect time to create an attractive wine trail for Carroll visitors to enjoy.
