Connecting Business & Education
Economic
Development is hosting a Business & Education Get Together event on
Wednesday, September 16th to introduce employers to the Carroll County
Public School Career Coordinators and local college advisors.
Representatives from McDaniel College,
Carroll Community College and area high schools will be on hand to answer questions about setting up student internships.
Last
year was the first time the event was held. Barbara Biller, President
of Intellitech, Inc. and a member of the Economic Development
Commission’s Workforce Committee was influential in getting
the event established. “Intellitech has experienced wonderful
success in working with the Career & Technology Center to place
student interns in our business. I know many of my colleagues could
benefit from this type of partnership as a way to find new talent. It
is often just a matter of knowing the right person to contact to get it
set up” she said.
The
Business & Education Get Together will be held at the Economic
Development office at 225 N. Center Street in Westminster on Sept. 16th
from 8:30 – 9:30 am. To register for this event, please call
Bonnie Staub at 410-386-2070 or email bstaub@carrollbiz.org

Business Appreciation Week
The 3rd Annual Business Appreciation Week will be held Oct. 5th - 9th when ambassador teams from
government
and community organizations will visit companies throughout the county.
“The primary goal of the visit is to express appreciation for
the company’s choice of Carroll County as their business
location and to listen to any business concerns”, stated
Director of Economic Development Larry Twele.
Launched
in 2007 as a partnership between Economic Development and the Carroll
County Chamber of Commerce, teams visited nearly 30 companies during
last year’s week-long event. Twele said “"We would
like to visit your company this year. Please call Bonnie Staub at 410-386-2070 before close of business on Monday, September 14th if you would like to participate.”
