Carroll's "Gateway to the World"
There are many exciting improvements being made at the Carroll County Regional Airport. Since June 2008, Skytech, Inc.,
the airport’s new Fixed Base Operator, has invested over
$800,000 of a planned $1.2 million in capital improvements for the
airport. Renovations to the lobby, pilot lounge and administration
areas are complete. Currently under construction is a 7,000 sq. ft.
two-story complex that will support the company’s aircraft
maintenance functions. Skytech anticipates relocating more than 30
employees into the new facility.
All of the improvements are scheduled to become the property of Carroll County at the end of the lease term.
Skytech
currently operates other aircraft service operations at Martin State
Airport near Baltimore and Rock Hill/York County Airport in South
Carolina (a suburb of Charlotte, NC). The 33-year old business
specializes in the sale and maintenance of high-end owner flown
aircraft and entry-level corporate aircraft. The company is the
exclusive representative for Piper Aircraft, Pilatus Business Aircraft,
and the Cessna Caravan product lines in 18 states along the eastern
seaboard. For visiting aircraft, Skytech’s facility is the
world’s gateway to the County and its employees are literally
Carroll County’s “front line ambassadors”.
The
Department of Economic Development is working with Skytech in an effort
to assist Skytech’s ongoing expansion plans. “We
welcome Skytech and look forward to working with the company to meet
the air travel needs of our mobile business executives and
visitors” said Director Larry Twele.
