Recognized for Fast Growth
CEO’s from America’s Remote Help Desk (ARHD) and
Skyline Network Engineering were recognized at the Baltimore SmartCEO
FUTURE 50 dinner in Baltimore on January 8th.
For the second consecutive year, ARHD has achieved over 20% growth in revenues and number of employees by
focusing on core services of
24x7 live remote help desk support, hosted infrastructure solutions and

continues to position ARHD to offer new and innovative services to
clients and challenges employees to provide the best possible customer
service.

was recognized as part of the FUTURE 50 for the first time this year.
Skyline specializes in designing, installing and maintaining a wide
range of network, telecommunication and security systems. As the
Project Management & Network Operations management firm for the
Carroll County Public Network, Skyline realized a significant increase
in revenue and employees and parlayed their statewide connections to
expand their scope of influence on IT infrastructure across the State.

2009 Economic Outlook Scheduled
The Carroll County Department of Economic Development will hold its eighth annual economic outlook seminar Thursday February 26, 2009 at the Portico of St. John in Westminster.
The seminar, sponsored by PNC bank, will include a buffet breakfast starting at 8:00am.
The presentation will begin
at 8:45am and conclude at approximately 10:00am. A brief question &
answer period will be included as part of the presentation.
This
year’s seminar will again be delivered by Anirban Basu,
Chairman & CEO of Sage Policy Group, Inc. Mr. Basu, a noted
regional economist and lecturer, will provide an outlook and
predictions for local, regional and national economic trends for the
remainder of 2009.
“Mr. Basu’s ability to interpret and present economic data in an insightful manner makes this event a must for anyone with an interest in the current economy.” said Larry Twele, Director of the Department of Economic Development. “He is truly one of the regions leading economists.”

Small Business Administration (SBA) Reaches Out to Business Community
The SBA offers free online training courses on "Surviving in a Down Economy" and "Strategic Marketing: How to Win Customers
in a Slowing Economy," and
"Retool & Reposition your company - How to Prepare a Business
Plan." These courses are available at http://www.sba.gov/services/training/onlinecourses/index.htmlLocally, the SBDC, which is funded in part by the SBA, offers both training and counseling services to small businesses. SBDC counselors are available to meet
one on one with business
owners to address issues such as marketing, financing and business
planning. Although not a direct funding source, the SBDC is available
to work with clients to prepare loan packages for clients seeking
funding. In addition to the online resources of the SBA, the Carroll
SBDC regularly posts articles of interest to business owners on a
variety of topics including "Improving Your Credit Score" and "Credit

New Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Website Portal
Lt. Governor Brown announced the launch of a new BRAC website - www.brac.maryland.gov. The website is a resource for citizens and businesses detailing upcoming BRAC opportunities and the 2008 BRAC Progress Report. Click here to access the full progress report.
