2008 Economic Outlook Seminar

The seventh annual economic outlook seminar will be held on March 26th at The Portico at St John’s in Westminster. Noted regional economist Anirban Basu, Chairman & CEO of Sage Policy Group, Inc., will present the outlook for local, state and national economic growth for the remainder of 2008.

“Mr. Basu’s ability to convey economic principles at work in an insightful and entertaining way makes this event appealing to anyone interested in economic trends”, said Larry Twele, Director of the Carroll County Department of Economic Development.

Small Business Development Center 24/7 Virtual Business Advisor

A new small business online resource, the Carroll County SBDC network, is now available via the Economic Development website.  The site includes training and business information for new and existing businesses.  SmartSTART, an information-gathering assessment used to identify business strengths and weaknesses, is featured and provides important guidance, suggestions, and resources direct to business owners.

A Virtual Classroom featuring business training on 26 topics ranging from business planning to finance and marketing can be accessed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  All that is required is completion of a short registration form and you are on your way to learning productive new business practices.
