Federal Stimulus Funding Workshop Scheduled

The Carroll County Department of Economic Development and Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development (DBED) are working together to present a workshop for businesses and individuals interested in learning more about the roll-out of federal stimulus funding in Maryland. The workshop is scheduled to be held on Friday May 8th from 1:00 -3:00 pm in Room L287 at Carroll Community College in Westminster.

All areas of government and business including Economic Development, Energy, Environment, Education, Health & Human Services, Housing, Public Safety, Transportation and Workforce Development are impacted by the influx of federal stimulus money. Governor O’Malley’s office established a website portal www.statestat.maryland.gov/recovery.asp to disseminate information about funding that flows through state programs. DBED is taking an aggressive role in identifying State and Federal contracts for businesses and will provide this information at the workshop. “This is an important session for business owners to attend to learn more about potential business opportunities that are available through the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act” stated Director of Economic Development Larry Twele. “We want Carroll businesses to benefit from the recovery efforts”, Twele further stated.
