Carroll Executive Elected Mid-Maryland WIB Chairman

Wallace L. Brown, Jr., Director of Administration for Skyline Network Engineering LLC was unanimously elected to a two year term as Chairman of the Mid-Maryland Workforce Investment Board (MMWIB). MMWIB is an employer-driven, policy-making board charged with creating and establishing an effective workforce delivery system for Howard and Carroll Counties in partnership with local elected officials. Established by Executive Order in response to the federal mandate of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998, the MMWIB's goal is to be the conduit between business, government and education.

"Mr. Brown's experience in industry with Lehigh Cement Company and Westinghouse Corporation and his expertise in education and training uniquely qualify him as an ideal candidate to lead the MMWIB" stated Denise Beaver, Deputy Director of the Carroll County Department of Economic Development.

"I hope to create more awareness about the MMWIB in the business community and integrate our efforts with the Governor's Workforce Investment Board which is undertaking some exciting work to identify workforce skill standards in key industries of the State", announced Mr. Brown during his introduction at the January 17th Board meeting held at the Charles Ecker Business Training Center in Columbia.

MMWIB oversees the One Stop Workforce Centers. Carroll's One Stop Workforce Center, the Carroll County Business & Employment Resource Center (BERC), in Westminster provides employer recruitment, hiring and outplacement services, customized training, and labor market information.
